Short Bio

Current position: Associate University Librarian, Collection Services at Concordia University Libraries, Montreal, Quebec.
Previous postion: Bibliographic Standards Librarian in the Direction du traitement documentaire des collections patrimoniales at Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec in Montreal, Canada.

Active in IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) I will completing 8 years on the Cataloguing Section Standing Committee and starting a term on the Bibliography Section Standing Committee in August 2013. I am chair of the FRBR Review Group, serve on the IFLA Namespaces Technical Group and am a member of the Joint CIDOC CRM/FRBR International Harmonisation Group.
I am also chair of the Canadian Committee on MARC and a member of the Canadian Committee on Cataloguing. Main interests are in cataloguing standards, library systems, and the exchange of bibliographic data.

Interest in LODLAM

LOD is changing the way IFLA standards are published and made available for use in the broader community. The linkage back to IFLA relevant communities is something I am particularly interested in and can contribute to. I see my attendance as related specifically to my ongoing work with the IFLA FRBR Review Group.

Linked Open Data Projects

My main involvement is through IFLA and efforts since 2007 to declare namespaces for relevant IFLA models and standards (FRBR, FRBRoo, ISBD, etc.)

Relevant presentations:
– “FRBR Review Group initiatives in the world of linked data (Le iniziative del FRBR Review Group e il mondo Linked data)” Seminar Global Interoperability and Linked Data in Libraries, Università degli studi di Firenze, Florence, Italy, 18-19 June, 2012.
Published in (v.4
, no. 1, 2013):

– “Declaring IFLA ISBD and FRBR family of conceptual models in RDF” with Mirna Willer, at Five Years On, JSC/DCMI Seminar, British Library, London, United Kingdom, April 27, 2012. (presentation) (paper)

In addition I represented BAnQ on the Linked Open Data Working Group of the PCDHN (Pan-Canadian Documentary Heritage Network), the group that developed the ""Out of the Trenches"" proof-of-concept. Will be giving a presentation on this (with Sharon Farnel of Uof Alberta) at the Canadian Library Association conference May 30, 2013 (not up on the web yet).
