My interests include the GLAM sector, the potential of ICT for the development of progressive outcomes for education, health, media and entertainment, and the organisations committed to the betterment of cities for the people who live and work in them.
I've attended the Intelligent Community Forum summit in New York (and Toronto in 2015) annually since 2011 – and working now with the Australian Smart Communities Association to grow an Australian equivalent. I have a long background with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, in both radio and TV, and have worked there on a number of archive related projects. I'm a member of Music Australia, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the American Alliance of Museums, Museums Australia, the Australian Digital Alliance, the Australian Smart Communities Association, the US Smart Cities Council, and the Australian Library and Information Association. My experiences informed work during 2014 with the Australian Centre for Broadband Innovation and Smart Services CRC on a study of the GLAM sector in Australia – report released September 2014. (See https://sites.google.com/site/glaminnovationstudy/home or http://www.museumsaustralia.org.au/site/glam-report2014.php).
I’ve attended the annual National Digital Forum conference in New Zealand in 2013 and 2014, the 2015 ALIA and MA conferences, and the 2014 and 2015 ReMIX summits, and have spoken at earlier MA and ALIA conferences.
I was on the board of the NSW screen resource body Metro Screen from 2009 to 2015, and for some years on the advisory committee of the Federal Enterprise Connect’s Creative Industries Innovation Centre, on the Australian Government’s IT Industry Innovation Council and the Queensland Government’s ICT Ministerial Advisory Group.
